US Trade Deficit Increases to $36.4 Billion

The US trade deficit for November increased 9.7 percent to $36.4 billion as a slowly improving economy helped boost consumer demand for imported goods. The deficit was considerably greater than the $34.5 billion forecast.

Overall, US exports increased 0.9 percent but the gains were more than offset by a 2.6 percent increase in imports.
