Asian stock markets opened mixed on Tuesday as caution set in before key Chinese economic data and central bank meetings in the region.
HSBC’s final purchasing managers’ index (PMI) for May and Beijing’s services PMI are slated for release around 9:45am SIN/HK. The data follows Sunday’s official manufacturing index, which rose to a five-month high in May.
Monetary policy decisions are due in Australia and India later Tuesday. While no change is expected from either central bank, the governors’ statements will be closely watched for attempts to talk down strength in their respective currencies.
