Asian shares were mixed on the final day of the week with traders hesitant to make big bets ahead of Friday’s U.S. jobs report.
Volumes will likely be thin due to the holiday period. Chinese financial markets remain shut until Monday while both Japanese and South Korean markets will be shut Monday and Tuesday for public holidays.
“With most of Europe and parts of Asia shut for May Day holidays, leads are coming from the U.S. alone; and with China still observing Labor Day holidays, trade is likely to see positioning before the non-farm payrolls,” said Evan Lucas, market strategist at IG.
