Australian opposition leader Tony Abbott’s coalition has an election-winning lead over Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s Labor Party before voters go to the polls Aug. 21, according to an opinion poll published today.
On a two-party preferred basis, the Liberal-National coalition is ahead of Gillard’s party 51.4 percent to 48.6 percent, the poll of 4,000 voters in 20 marginal electorates across five states found, the Sunday Telegraph reported. The Galaxy poll result contrasts with yesterday’s Age Nielsen poll, which showed Labor ahead with 53 percent support.
