Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz said that “substantial” monetary stimulus now in place in Canada remains appropriate.
Poloz, speaking to lawmakers today in Ottawa, said that inflation “persistently” below the central bank’s target has assumed “increasing importance.” Still, the bank is also taking into consideration the risk that low interest rates exacerbate household debt.
