The Bank of Japan’s Tankan index – a survey of Japanese manufacturers used to gauge business confidence – suggests that the confidence of Japan’s business community is at its highest point since December 2009. While the most recent survey results are a step in the right direction, the overall sentiment remains pessimistic.
